The book's only fault is that it is too comprehensive
By Michael
Potter uses sterling logic to dissect, break down, and organize the various component parts of modern media. He then provides excellent, well-referenced, historical, economic, and political context for each. The author then analyzes how these influences shape the media content that we consume every day, and offers helpful online activities and downloadable resources to explore the issues. I used the book as a basis for a media course that I taught at a University in Korea and it was indispensable.

An interesting read
By Rylie Shore
This book has a lot of good and interesting information about media consumption and gives the reader a good idea of how the media affects our thinking and perception of the world around us. It also gives insight into the media world and the schemes they use to grab our attention. It is easy to read but is not a thrilling read.

Too many citations; add chapters
By Hannah B.
Although very informative, I felt overwhelmed with the amount of citations. I understand that thus
Is to support his point but it really takes away from the whole reading experience
I also wish he had a chapter on women and their representation in the media as well as racial diversity·
